Somewhere in the hospitals/ The half-way homes and choking jails...

Dailytitlow has very kindly lent us his Halesworth bolt hole for a few day before the Latitude mud bath. Very serene and quiet here. Southwold Pier is amazing. We bizarrely watched 202 Sqn doing some decks from the promenade this afternoon and I wished I was up there with them. Worryingly developing a taste for bitter. The Adnams here is amazing, as it should be, they brew it here...working on my George Smiley missive, actually feels good to be writing, or at least thinking about writing, again....

There's a fire in the fields/ A killer in the mirror..

Jeff, Andrew (caughtbytheriver.net) and I went fishing yesterday at a spooky old Tench pool in West Sussex.

I hate cough syrup/ And I hate the food in Europe...

Lady Claire has bought us a new house (pic by Mr Kilcourse Senior). Had a strange, brilliant and slightly odd afternoon with dailytitlow at the Academy watching Blur rehearse their forthcoming Glastonbury set for friends and family over nearly two and a half hours, 400 of us whereas next week there will be 150 000 fans watching. Lots of ghosts but they are going to pull it off in amazing style...watch this space....

Set a date/ You know exactly how I feel/ I had my doubts little girl/ That I'm in love with something real...

A blessed escape in the stauch SAAB to the country after a week of redundancy meetings in a claustrophobic and ugly London (the future is wide open..) to the Perou Farm ( Lady Claire has never been on an aircraft and also has never seen Star Wars..) then onto Nikkimas and Tom's amazing place in Camber for a weekend of great food and too much rum (sorry) If Springsteen ever wants to make a video for 'Thunder Road' Camber Sands is the perfect location. Much Glastonbury planning tonight...go and buy 'Caught By The River' from Borders, Foyles or Amazon or wherever, a very beautiful book complied lovingly by some very good friends of mine. A true work of art that they should be very proud of and an island of sanity and elegance in a world of music and publishing biz that is destroying itself from the inside out with incompetence and downright stupidity. The good people will win, and are starting to, it's exciting, like the second coming of punk rock, We don't need their fucking permission anymore....

Helicopters are chasing/ Our spirits across the sea...

Recent events. The Soft Pack: Believe the hype; the sandbaggers gathered for tapas; THE OHH OHH AH AHH BAND seven is out, go and buy it at Rough Trade W11; My old chums THE VERONICAS joined us for a few apres office cocktails; The 202 Sqn Hanger Bash was an outstanding success thanks to all the efforts of Vern, Mark, Josh etc. Group Captain Cox led us in singing the Sea King Helicopter a very happy birthday. Good times. Seems all dashing young RAF pilots buy their shirts at the same stripey shirt shop
