Spent the day sorting junk I've had stored at gramps' for ages. Don't remember going to that Fugazi gig. Also found tons of promotional CDs. Will I ever listen to Marion, 60 Foot Dolls or Raging Speedhorn ever again?
What are days for? Days are where we live. They come, they wake us Time and time over. They are to be happy in: Where can we live but days? Ah, solving that question Brings the priest and the doctor In their long coats Running over the fields.
Because of the recent death in family I did not make it to the Tor this year. Instead I walked around the vale listening to Explosions In The Sky and Mogwai, imagining I was trudging from backstage to the New Bands Tent as I navigated the Westwood. Upon reflection I am very glad I am not there as I would be sharing the same air as Phil 'Obese terminally unfunny Mod bully' Jupitus and Lauren 'used to be in a fat indie band from Newcastle and now chief patronising arts idiot on the BBC' Laverne. The buisness of Glastonbury this year (as seen through BBCi) is making me feel sick. Although I'm just watching The Killers and it's brilliant.
OK. I've been slack. So, I will endevour to try and update everyday from now on. Here's a picture of a cow. I really must recomend 'Down By The River Where The Dead Men Go' by George P Pelacanos as the best novel I have ever read about drinking (and Private Investigation) ever.
This internet effort is a year old today. It started with a picture of dogface on a beach (in Kent) and so it only seems appropriate that there's another picture of him on a beach today (near Bridlington) I was never really sure what the point of doing a blog was and I'm still not. ALOT has changed in the last year but I think I'll keep it alive. As Leonard Cohen once sang "I hope your keeping some kind of record..."
Relaxed bank holiday. David came to visit and we had a legendary night of rock in the Barrel with Colonel JR Cigs, Walked dogface on the Wezzo and down at the We Love Telly Beach. And that's Libby learning how to use the remote so she can change channels from Hitler documentaries to Cbeebies whenever she comes over....
Just watched Watership Down. Amazing. A film which Mogwai once pointed out is the animated rabbit movie equivilent of the album 'Closer' by Joy Division.
There is a new car dealers in my parents village. They used to sell combine harvesters and Daihatsu Four tracks. Now they sell American SUV's like this Peroumobile Caddy and other stuff like Dodge Ram V8 pick up trucks.
Back into town for early spring session at Sintra then onto Johns 35th Birthday party in Highgate with Summerisle and Theoxo. John is the worlds greatest drummer but has decided at his advanced age to become a probation officer (he''ll probably be keeping similar company)A Classic Saturday night London drink up. That's Ellie there. Can you tell she's mates with The Horrors?
Got a van and finally drove to NH to drop off crap at ex's storage facility. Then onto Woking to my cousins to drop off gramps' ,er, Grandfather Clock. Everything in it's right place etc.
